Collection: The Dassins
The Dassins are a rock/indie band from Leeds, UK. Formed by Ewan Turner in 2017, originally as "Sticks and Stones", the band saw heavy lineup and stylistic changes over its tumultuous beginnings, however settling comfortably upon drummer Edward French who provided a unique style of drumming tailor-made for the songs of the band. The Dassins reformed in 2021 upon the arrival of Riley Gill, who provided much-needed artistic input, thus forming a strong writing and performance-based partnership with founding member Ewan Turner. Soon after the pair had written enough new material they began recording their debut album "Suburban Nightmare" at Studio 84, with two supporting music videos "The Recluse" (Turner-Gill) and "If You Only Know" (Turner). The album was recorded extremely quickly and highlights the band at their most raw, The band dubbed the work as "a well-recorded live album with a couple of overdubs". The Dassins parted ways with guitarist and writer of "Don't Call Me a Saint" Jamie Hannan soon after their first album and are currently looking for a fourth Dassin. The Dassins draw from many influences ranging anywhere from the music of The Beatles, The Jam, and many other British bands to American folk including The Other Favourites and Bob Dylan. This contributes to their style and the amount of variety in their music. Their newest album "Chasing Shadows on the Wall" released March 30th this year.
